Poverty, is the state of being poor, according to the search I made in Merriam Webster. I say it’s more than that. Poverty plays a role in the lives of half of the people in the world. Poverty is more than money. Poverty is the daily struggles of our human race. Poverty is living under a bad circumstance and battling every sunrise and each sunset. Also, poverty is another motive to go out your own way to make sure your family is alright. Poverty is the stress parents go through trying to provide for their children.

Poverty is bridging the gap in the community, without this communication, poverty is just a distant nightmare. I believe the key to ending poverty in the world is to start off by realizing that poverty is a global problem. Once you’ve realized poverty is an issue to the human race than you can began to take action. Action such as; sharing economic growth to the poorest people, allowing access to clean water, health education, housing and security and educating their children to contribute in their community. It’s a great way to educate children to express their beliefs and make decisions that will shape their future and impact people’s lives later. I have a feeling that people recognize that it’s a global issue but are afraid to let the world know. I fear that they’re afraid of getting rejected. All honesty, I wouldn’t blame them. Rejection by all terms is intimidating and frightful.

Starting off in your community is a great way to continue ending the journey of poverty. My plan to make a difference is to start off locally and end up going worldwide.  We don’t see much poverty here in the Valley and I’m really thankful for that. If poverty was a major issue in the valley, I'd create my own company and hire people who live in poverty and make a life changing difference in their lives. I’d create my own boutique, the people I’ll be hiring would be people who live in poverty. I’d get clothes from places, sell them and give the workers clothing and provide healthcare and life insurance. Out of this action, what I'll be getting out of this is making a difference in someone’s life and a feeling of relief will set a place in my heart. I see myself creating a school where children can get free and equal education. The school will educate the children the importance of engaging in their community to help end poverty.

Nicaragua’s poverty mostly comes from natural disasters. In the year of 1972, an earthquake struck in Nicaragua leaving between 3,000 to 7,000 people dead and leaving more than 250,000 people homeless. Things such as schools, livestock and crops are left destroyed. The damage cost more than billion dollars. In response to these disasters, government agencies and the Nicaraguan Red Cross founded a campaign that educated them how to prepare for natural disasters. Teachers from Nicaragua also teach their students first aid, rescue and evacuation. Education in Nicaragua has also been reconsidered! Although, Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America, the Nicaraguan government has created a plan that includes access to primary schools, especially to rural households. Stock from the United States, European Union and World Bank helped remodeled schools and provide textbooks and supplies. While I am at Nicaragua, I will be donating schooling supplies to the kids!

As hard as the government has been working to provide school and as much as it’s helping many people, it’s a problem for families due to transportation and helping out with family. Poverty exist in Nicaragua due to not having access to certain things. Building more roads, allowing free transportation to a variety of places to the poor is a great way to help them get where they need to be. I say that education is always the key to success but unfortunately not many have that opportunity. Many drop out and you’ll see them often in a workplace. Transportation is mainly a reason why children give up on school, I suggest that allowing them to have access to transportation is a way to keep them at school.  Having financial support through the government will be a huge support system for the generation of tomorrow.

In order to conclude the nightmare of poverty, WE MUST UNITE! Unity brings the hope of tomorrow and together we can gather the future. I conclude my blog with an invitation of helping the less fortunate. They are dreamers as much as we are, let’s make a change together!
